CRISTINA G. GADEA
Born in Madrid 1974.
Speaks English, Spanish & French.
Bachelors in FINE ARTS from the Complutense University of Madrid. Scholarship at the Anotati Skolí Kalón Teknón, Athens, Greece. Masters in Art & Design from Essex University, U.K. Teaching Competency Certificate (CAP).
Specialized in Costume Design, completes her artistic education with technical skills in the world of costume creation at Madrid’s Show Technology Center. Master in Set Design by the Complutense University.
She has worked with the British Royal Shakespeare Company in UK, at the Cultural Palace in Varsovia, the National Costume Museum in Madrid, the National Dramatic Center and the Royal Academy of Performing Arts among others.
She often works in Poland. Since 2001 she’s been designing their costumes with the internationally awarded company Song of the Goat Theater(Teatr Piesn Kozla) directed by Grezegorz Bral. Most direct avant-garde descendant of Gardenize and Grotowski's Laboratorium.
She has also designed costumes in France and Sweden for Awake Projects under Christopher Sievertsen directing.
In addition, she has collaborated with the group Women’s Theater at Alcalá Meco Penitentiary, Yeses Teatro, with the support of the Women’s General Directorate.
Cristina has designed costumes for several directors of our current scene such us Juan Margallo, Jorge Eines, Jose Luís Alonso de Santos, Juan Francisco Rodríguez and Hernán Gené.
She is increasingly performing as Costume designer, Set tailor and Stylist for FILMING and PHOTO SHOOTING; working for productions of El Deseo, Pokeepsie Films, etc and with film makers as David Serrano, Juan Diego Botto, Eva Hache, Nata Moreno, etc and together with costume designers as Pepo Ruiz, Montse Sancho, Wanda Morales, etc.
She has directed, together with the french Stage Designer, Richard Henry Louis Cenier, a stage design studio called Le Cabinet d'stetic Teatrale. Together they currently direct an industrial warehouse transformed into a cultural multidisciplinary space in the mountains near Madrid.
Cristina also leads workshops regarding creativity and arts within social projects linked to childhood at the International Brave Kids/Brave festival among others.
In 2018 she founded The Woods Theater Company, releasing ¨Saagövandring¨, self written and directed. An outdoor musical theatre piece about the care of the environment. In 2023, after more than 10 years of preparation she will premiere ¨Orbis Mortis¨ together with an ilustrated book, an approach to the subject of death adapted for a children’s audience.
